I'm now blogging at US News & World Report on Centrist-related topics.
My first post compares our current political situation to the stagnant US auto industry in the 1970s and 80s. The Big Three controlled 86% of the domestic auto market in 1970. Consumers were award that the products weren't all that great. But the industry (and the customers) could only imagine competition between GM, Ford, and Chrysler.
And then Toyota came along. Today, the Big Three control less than half of the American vehicle market.
I see a parallel with the current political system. The Democratic and Republican parties are old and uninspiring. Voters are disaffected. Do we have the imagination to do something new and better?
