Walter Riseman, ME HD-69

Walter is a long-time Mainer, former small business owner, non-profit executive and community advocate who has held a number of elected and appointed positions. He is running as a "Clean Elections" candidate and not accepting any outside financial support.


Walter has lived in Maine since the 1970s when he began work as a staff accountant for Hannaford Brothers. He later went on to buy and run his own business: a convenience store in Harrison, Maine. He later was employed by Community Concepts, where he worked for 21 years, initially as a small business development specialist, and later as CFO. Community Concepts, is a nonprofit community action agency providing low income families with various programs such as Head Start, Affordable Housing, Senior Transportation, and Family Services.

Walter has served as the chair of the Gray Town Council and was elected to be the chairman of the Harrison Democratic Committee. He’s been appointed to serve on the Harrison Budget Committee and was appointed to be the Chairman of the Harrison Nuclear Waste Committee. In these capacities, Walter has been an advocate for helping grow small businesses, has served low and moderate-income families, and has worked to build the economic base of the region. Now, he is ready to take his experience and knowledge to the Maine House of Representatives and represent the people of District 69 seat where he will be an independent voice for his community.

He currently lives in Harrison with his wife of 27 years, Jane. They are parents to eight children and grandparents to six children.
