Maine Independents Action Fund is strengthening the voice of independent voters and giving more choice to all Maine voters by recruiting and training independent candidates to run for public office; organizing independent student groups on college campuses to empower the next generation of independent leaders; and enlisting more independent voices in the media. Maine Independents Action Fund is a Maine nonprofit corporation that is governed by a Board of Directors and supported by a Board of Advisors. Maine Independents is a connected state PAC.
A September 2016 poll released to the Bangor Daily News showed that 89% of Maine voters believe that, “Our state government here just isn't working. The parties serve special interests, not the people, and the failure of parties to cooperate and compromise has taken us to the brink of a financial and political crisis.” 86% of voters surveyed expressed concern about polarization in Augusta. Only 7% said that “our democracy is working well.”
Never before has there been more need for a group of courageous independents to run, win, and govern to fix a broken system and make Maine work for the people, not the parties and special interests.
