WHAT DOES BEING A "CENTRIST" MEAN TO YOU, AND WHY DID YOU GET INVOLVED?
Being a Centrist requires a few things in my mind...One, the ability to see the gray in situations; we are simply too diverse to resign to a black and white way of thinking. Two, the moral courage and humility to put the greater good of the whole over the need to win at all costs, AKA have a "Country Over Party" mindset. Lastly, a passion to build bridges and connections. I started seeking ways to get involved after finding myself politically adrift post-2016 election.
WHAT IS A POLICY ISSUE YOU ARE PASSIONATE ABOUT AND WHY?
It may be a broad stroke of the brush, but I believe we need to focus on finding a way to address the countless social concerns in our nation, while finding a way to be fiscally responsible. We also need to leave the condition of our planet in better shape than the course it's currently headed.
HOW DO YOU THINK WE CAN UNITE OUR COUNTRY AND FIX POLITICS?
If there is one positive that has come of this turbulent time in our nation's history, it's that the red and blue we know is starting to fade. People who have clung to one party for their entire existence are becoming seekers. I believe that by recognizing and providing a welcoming place for these wanderers, a small grassroots movement has the ability to make an evergreen footprint. We need to bring authenticity, trust and civility back to politics, and rid ourselves of the impact of heavy donor money.
