Tell Us About Yourself.

I am a PhD student at Arizona State University. I grew up in the Phoenix area. After I graduate (c. May 2019), I would like to live in NYC or DC, building a space tech company while being involved politically and perhaps running for office.

What Does Being A "Centrist" Mean To You, And Why Did You Get Involved?

Taking each issue individually and weighing it on it's own merits in the context of our society, not along party lines. I was first directly affected by the disfunction during the government shut down a few years ago; I had a research project that I was going to take down to Antarctica, but being a government project, the shut-down pushed our schedule back so far that the project was cancelled. Since then, I have been much more politically aware, educating myself on as much as I can. Through that process, I have seen how ridiculous our system has become, and I want to help rectify these issues myself.

What Is A Policy Issue You Are Passionate About And Why?

Climate change is a big issue for me, because my research is focused around that, and it is a really big deal for life on Earth as a whole, both now and for generations to come. I am also passionate about education, equality, science and technology, and prison reform.

How Do You Think We Can Unite Our Country And Fix Politics?

Erase party lines. Or at least realize that those on the other side of the line are not our enemies. Working together and realizing compromise is crucial, even if it is not ideal. Education is key, eliminating cognitive dissonance, relying on science, reason, and empathy.

Anything Else You'd Like To Add?

I am very excited to be involved. Looking forward to some exciting discussions and mind-boggling progress.
