What does being a "Centrist" mean to you, and why did you get involved?
Being a centrist means, first and foremost, being a listener. It means having an open mind and knowing what a good idea looks like when you see one, regardless of the source of that idea. It means level-headedness and temperance in the face of extremism, pragmatism over ideology, and seeing things from multiple points of view.
What is a policy issue you are passionate about and why?
I'm interested in social justice and our responsibility to one another as citizens because it encompasses or is affected by nearly every policy decision that's made. From taxation and spending, healthcare, personal liberties and civil rights, national defense, and so on.
How do you think we can unite our country and fix our politics?
The only way to fix our politics is put down our egos and have honest and open conversations with the "other side". The ability to see another person's point of view is the first step towards the type of compromise that is the backbone of democracy.
