WHAT DOES BEING A "CENTRIST" MEAN TO YOU, AND WHY DID YOU GET INVOLVED?
Being a centrist means keeping an open mind on issues, listening to other viewpoints, and assessing issues objectively while staying true to a personal moral compass. Civility is, in my view, the hallmark of being a Centrist.
I became a Centrist because I do not align with either ideology of the two dominant parties. Each have become so polarized that neither appear tolerant of deviation from the platform.
WHAT IS A POLICY ISSUE YOU ARE PASSIONATE ABOUT AND WHY?
Economic opportunity is important to our society. We ration basic services based on an ability to pay, but we do not fairly provide opportunity to gain access.
HOW DO YOU THINK WE CAN UNITE OUR COUNTRY AND FIX POLITICS?
First and foremost, we must reform campaign funding. The use of PAC money should be curtailed and the sources of all funding must be made public. The challenge of re-instilling civility into the process is a tall order, but we must work toward that goal.
