WHAT DOES BEING A "CENTRIST" MEAN TO YOU, AND WHY DID YOU GET INVOLVED?
Being a "Centrist" to me means striving to find the middle path, not veering off to the extreme left or right where I might get lost in the brush. In spirituality and philosophy, one may have heard to "find your center," a place where peace and enlightenment can be attained. I am getting involved in this project because I would like to help bring those attributes (along with rationality and reason) into our national discourse.
WHAT IS A POLICY ISSUE YOU ARE PASSIONATE ABOUT AND WHY?
It may be a bit broad in nature, but I am passionate about Civil Liberties--how our liberties & rights are under attack like no other time in history, and how we can fight back to preserve those right for ourselves and future generations.
HOW DO YOU THINK WE CAN UNITE OUR COUNTRY AND FIX POLITICS?
We must, must, must reform our current political landscape, and take steps to end the destructive effects of the "two-party" system. It is a system that is fixed and "rigged" from top to bottom, controlled and directed by the corrosive influences of money & power. As such, it is imperative that we open up the system so that all people can be represented while also ending the current "pay-to-play" structure that has so badly hijacked our form of government. Like many people, I have become disgusted with the way our government and political systems work. The two-party system is thoroughly broken, each side enslaved and corrupted by the above-mentioned forces. Personally, I severed all ties with anything having to do with the Democratic party--from changing my voter registration to resigning from my county's Democratic Central Committee. I am sincerely searching for a way out of the darkness here, and hope the Centrist Project can be a guiding light.
